A Guide to Kids Bedding Sets

There are many types of popular kids bedding sets available for children and parents to choose from on the market today. Boys and girls have very different tastes and preferences however, so its important to try to make their bedding choices match their room and living environment. From colors and styles to fabrics and sizes, if you name it, you can most likely find what your child likes for their personal bedding needs. Parents have to take into consideration several factors including their child’s color and material preferences, specific interests, room design, allergies, and the size of their kids beds, just to name a few.

Choosing Your Child’s Ideal Bedding Styles

Girls tend to like colorful, pretty designs on their sheets and blankets. Most girls want popular designs and patterns when they are younger, so parents should research popular themes and characters for their little princesses. Dora the Explorer is one of the most popular designs in kids bedding for girls these days and there are many types of kids bedding sets that display your little girl’s love for Dora and her adventures. Another popular design for girls bedding is Bratz. There are over 30 types and designs for Bratz on the market and plenty more accessories such as throw pillows, comforters, lamps, and matching rugs to go along with your bedding sets. High School Musical and Hannah Montana are popular among slightly older girls and there are many different bedding sets to satiate any little girl’s desire to have these characters on their beds.

Some girls like sets of themed sheets and blankets such as ocean life, zoo animals, cats, dogs, and shiny designs such as glitter or sequins that match the rest of their room. With a little research, you can find plenty of designs to enhance any age girl’s style. Girls tend to be more picky about the appearance of their surroundings, so with so many varieties of bedding available, and accompanied by so many matching accessories also found with the bedding in many retailers, almost anything is available for any preference.

Now kids bedding for boys is quite a bit different for obvious reasons; boys typically like more masculine, adventurous designs for their rooms and bedding. For the little boys in your family, you can find lots of fitting, exciting designs and styles. Smaller boys might enjoy Thomas the Train, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Transformers, Cars, or Baukagan for their rooms. Some other popular designs for smaller boys include camouflage, dinosaurs, robots, and cars to name a few. There are many different styles of each of these designs available with a little research and shopping. Older boys can often find something a little more mature and fitting to their age group like military designs, striped color schemes, sports team logos and colors, and masculine solid color sets to compliment their bedrooms. You’ll find there are lots of different types of styles available for your older boy’s bedding if you look for your specific preferences.

Material Selection for Your Child’s Bedding

Girls also like softer, more delicate fabrics such as cotton, silk, and satin for their beds. Many of the most popular kids bedding sets are available in these materials and come with equally soft, immediately available pillows and blankets in a set. Some bedding sets come with special sheets or blankets that can be set up to make castles or tents. Most little boys like material for their bedding that keeps them comfortable rather than how they look. The most popular of all boys bed material is either cotton or flannel. More often than not, boys bedding sets come with matching blankets and can also come with play sets to build forts or play areas with. Comfort is a great concern for kids bed sheets, so make sure that you find the right material for your little one by taking them with you to pick out their sets.

Finding Specialty Bedding for Specific Needs

For your child’s bedding preferences and personal needs, you can find a lot of resources online and in stores that will help you decide what is best for your family. Some children require special types of material for their bedding due to allergies or easily irritated skin, and many companies offer softer or more specific types of fabric than others. Some children have larger beds than the typical twin or full-sized mattress sizes and find it more difficult to choose a type of kid bedding. Certain aspects of choosing a kid’s bedding can be daunting, but nothing is impossible. Ask a store associate for help or for a catalog if you are having trouble or simply use a search engine online to help you with any issues or concerns you may have. Some companies even go as far as to offer hypo-allergenic sheet and blanket sets for children with severe skin allergies to common materials used in bedding.

There is a lot to consider when choosing your child’s bedding. Some parents have to consider colors, materials, age, sizes, and allergies when picking out a set of kids bedding. Some parents opt for the simplicity of color over style, but some also have to choose their child’s bedding according to their current interests. Whether parents are interested in size, design, shapes, or colors, any parent can find the perfect bedding set for their child with a little research and help. There is something perfect out there for every want and need as far as child’s bedding goes, so shop and have fun setting up your child’s perfect sleeping spot.

  1. As a kid I always wanted to have a comforter themed after my favorite movies. I probably slept under my Jurassic Park comforter for a solid five years before I finally outgrew it. When I’m a dad, I’ll probably do the same for my kids. That makes choosing things like bedding styles something that’s difficult to plan for. Thanks for the tips! Great post.
